Dental Sleep Medicine Pilot Program Begins

7 September 2017 – A pilot dental sleep medicine program using an oral appliance, rather than a CPAP device, begins at Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty), Fort Sam Houston, Fort Bliss, Tripler Army Medical Center and Joint Base Lewis McChord. The program is supported with technology from ProSomnus Sleep Technologies. The Army Dental Laboratory at Fort Gordon, Georgia, supports the program through custom device fabrication using a digital scan of the soldier’s teeth and bite. Each unit made in-house saves the Army about $4,500.
