Civilian Employees and Contractors
A workforce that includes Department of the Army Civilian and contract employees ensures the Army Dental Care System meets the needs of soldiers and accomplishes its readiness mission. Civilian employees and contractors hold positions in direct patient care, as well as in multiple aspects of administrative support services. Throughout the Army Dental Care System, civilians also provide administrative, analytical, education and technology support.
Department of the Army civilians and contract employees typically remain in their positions for many years. The continuity and stability civilian employees provide enhance quality of care and substantially benefit the Army Dental Care System.
Career Development Opportunities
Education and Training
Licensed civilian and contract employees, including dentists, dental hygienists and expanded-practice dental assistants, have access to continuing dental education and training opportunities to maintain their professional license or certification. Additionally, other civilian and contract employees may participate in education and training programs to maintain or enhance their skill sets and readiness.
Career Transition Opportunities
Department of the Army civilian and contract employees who leave positions with the military are poised to pursue similar careers in civilian communities.
The job experience gained by working in an Army dental clinic or organization can translate to civilian positions in:
